I never understood why someone would vacation in the desert. A fairly barren landscape with nothing much to see. The lack of life combined with needing water and violent sunburns has never made it a place I’ve sought to explore.

But I knew Jake, a kid from the snow-capped mountains of Vermont, hadn’t seen anything like this and decided it was time to kill a weekend so he could see a world so different from the one he grew up in.

welcome to the Desert

weird cacti look trees surrounded by rocks shaped as skulls right next to a quirky little town.

It was the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen (in the United States - only rivaled with the sunset I saw in Thailand).
