Mount Baldy

I had no idea there was:

  • a hike in LA where there are no Instagram influencers

  • a hike that took me 12,000 feet above all of Los Angeles

  • a hike that I needed a ski lift to get to…40 minutes away from downtown Los Angeles

Behold, Mount Baldy. I stumbled upon this difficult yet beautiful hike after a quick Google search for “hikes in LA that are too hard for Instagram influencers”.

We paid the hefty $30 fee to take the ski lift up to the grueling hike and had 2 hours of straight incline to go up on. Our thighs were on fire, our calves were dead, and our hearts were full. This has got to be one of the most brutal, but most rewarding hike, I have ever done in Los Angeles and I could not recommend this hike more.

This hike was brutal. We struggled for the remaining 2 hours of the hike uphill that we had to complete on our own, but the Devils Backbone Trail was absolutely beautiful. At some point we went over the treeline and there was litearlly nothing but rocks on our feet and clouds over our heads. It’s how I pictured Mars to be like.
